Today marks the best day in recent Chicago sports memory. The day kicks off with the Cubbies down in Miami’s newly built aquarium and the South Siders finishing up a series with the Orioles at U.S. Comiskular. Both teams will most likely lose which will unfortunately be a common trait for our hometown teams this summer. However, the night-cap of Chitown sporting events will help us forget about the city’s baseball woes.
The Hawks are in a must win situation tonight against the Coyotes at the Palace on Mad Ave. I’m very optimistic about the game tonight, although the Hawks will be shorthanded playing without Shaw and Hossa. I predict that the Hawks are going to be out for blood due to Torres’ cheap shot on Tuesday night. Crawford has been playing well in net and I can see the Hawks winning this one going away, sending the series back to Phoenix tied at two games apiece.
The NBA game of the night is a battle between the top seeds in the Eastern Conference. With four games remaining for each team, the Bulls lead the Heat by 2.5 games, and they can basically wrap-up the top spot with a win tonight in South Beach. It’s still unknown if Rose or Deng will be available for the game tonight, but the Bulls have proved they can beat any team in the league, even without their stars. Unfortunately, the Bulls are 0 for their last 4 playing in Dwade’s house, and I can see tonight’s game not being any different. The Bulls will eventually clinch the top seed in the East, but I don’t think it’s going to happen tonight, regardless if Rose and Deng both play.
I’ll be channel surfing all night, and I expect you will do the same. As Hawk Harrelson says, “it’s time to buckle up and strap it down,” the Windy City will be the center of the sports world tonight.
