Tar Heels Get Stuck

If anybody watched the “Battle of Tobacco Road” last night, or turned it off with 2:30 left in the second half, then you would be shocked to know that Dick Vitale’s Dukies won.  It was the most amazing choke job I have seen in a very long time, think Jean van de Velde in the British Open, it was that bad.

With that being said, here are some facts from the game played in Chapel Hill last night.  The Tar Heels were up 11 points with just under five minutes to go in the game, unfortunately for them, they scored just five points in the remainder of the game.  The Blue Devils during that same span scored seventeen, and were able to win by one point, shocking the UNC faithful in the Dean Dome.  UNC outplayed them the entire game, until they decided to take a dump with five minutes left.  I can’t say that Coach K was the better strategist then Coach Williams down the stretch because that was not true, Duke just straight-up outplayed UNC at the end and stole the game away from the Heels.  Both teams are good enough to win the National Championship this year, and both sides’ youthfulness will prove decisive in how far they go in the tournament.  The younger Duke team composed of three former NBA players’ sons: Seth Curry, Austin Rivers, and Andre Dawkins bettered the “Older” UNC team (who is also lead by mostly freshman and sophomores).  Austin Rivers played like a man possessed scoring 29 points, including a buzzer beater three to clinch the victory.  I think UNC is the better team, and Duke took the game away from them, but we’ll see what happens next time.  Can’t wait to watch the rematch in Cameron Indoor Stadium on March 3rd.  Dick Vitale’s boner for that date must be reDONKulous.
