Jerry Angelo could never get it right

I came across a very interesting article on the Chicago Tribune’s online sports page about how the Bears had the first opportunity to acquire Wes Welker out of college in the draft, but Jerry Angelo decided to draft Nathan Vasher at the last minute instead. Welker was then invited to the San Diego Chargers camp and eventually made the opening day roster, however, he was cut the next week by former head coach Marty Schottenheimer. One really interesting fact about Wes Welker that Chicago Tribune reporter, Dan Pompei said was that in Welker’s three seasons, which were his first in the NFL, with the Miami Dolphins he accumulated more all-purpose yards than any other player besides former Bear, Gale Sayers. The link for the story in it’s entirety is below the picture.
