I stumbled across an article on ESPN.com today by Neil Greenberg that ranked the top 25 players who are under 25 years old in the NHL. On this list, Greenberg has placed both Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane of the Blackhawks in the top 5 of that list. Kane is fourth overall and according to Greenberg, Jonathan Toews has surpassed Sydney Crosby as the best player under 25 in the NHL.
All Blackhawks fans know how good Toews and Kane are and it is ridiculous that they are only 23 years old. The Blackhawks are currently having a phenomenal season led by these two youngsters. Here are a couple paragraphs on what Greenberg had to say about them.
“The Hawks’ captain produces on the offensive side of the puck, as well. He has registered 137 goals and 308 points in 344 regular-season games over the last five seasons.
Throw in his Olympic gold for Team Canada in 2010 and his part in bringing a Stanley Cup to the Windy City (earning the Conn Smythe for being most valuable to his team during the playoffs in the process) and you have the game’s top player under 25 years old.”
“Another of Chicago’s first-round picks (first overall in 2007) makes the top five, showing the Blackhawks should be Cup contenders for a long, long time.
The former Calder Trophy winner and silver medalist is an offensive force, most notably on the power play, having scored 125 of his 340 points with the man advantage.”
